The acquitted in the "Terter case" banned from communicating with the press
Baku/18.01.23/Turan: The victims and the acquitted in the "Terter case" were forbidden to communicate with the press and gather together, the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, where some of the victims of this case or their relatives came, announced on January 18.
Relatives of the victims of torture in this case demanded that they be given the status of martyrs. The event was also attended by only two people acquitted in this case on December 6 last year. Valida Ahmedova, the mother of Elchin Guliyev, one of the victims, said that the other acquitted did not participate in the event because they were summoned to the executive authorities, the State Security Service and warned not to speak to the media.
After the April battles of 2016, a large group of servicemen was involved in the investigation. A group of military men who spied for Armenia had been exposed, a joint statement by the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Security Service, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 2019, it became known that the military detained in May-June 2017 were subjected to mass torture. According to human rights activists, more than 100 soldiers and officers were tortured, 25 servicemen were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment, at least 9 people died as a result of torture.
Later, some of the defendants were acquitted, and those responsible for torture were arrested. The trial in the case of illegally convicted continues. On October 5, 2022, the courts acquitted 16 people, and on December 6, another 19 people. --0--
