The activist complains that the court is delaying the consideration of his appeal
Baku/29.06.21/Turan: A member of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) and an employee of the Azadlig newspaper, Agil Maharramli, complains that the Khazar District Court is delaying the consideration of his appeal for early release.
Maharramli has already applied to the court with a request for parole. However, the court does not consider and does not answer. Maharramli called on human rights defenders and activists to make it public.
According to the leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Karimli, Agil Maharramli, like Saleh Rustamli, were completely unjustly and unjustifiably condemned. Maharramli received 4 years in prison, and Rustamli - 7 years and 3 months.
Maharramli has already served three-quarters of his sentence, but his right to parole is being ignored. At the same time, the authorities early release persons who have committed serious crimes, Karimli said.
Maharramli was arrested in May 2018 in the so-called case of “illegal financing of the Popular Front Party”. He received 4 years in prison. At the end of May, he celebrated three years of his imprisonment. According to the law, he is entitled to parole. –06D-
