The Bar Changed Its Mind to Punish Elchin Sadygov
Baku / 20.11.17 / Turan: Attorney Elchin Sadygov was summoned to the Bar on Monday. The appeal was related to a complaint against him by the judge of the Sheki Grave Crimes Court, Rashid Huseynov. The lawyer Elchin Sadygov himself informed about this.
Two months ago, on September 28, according to a similar complaint, Elchin Sadygov was summoned to the Sheki Grave Crimes Court to write an explanatory note.
"Disciplinary proceedings began again, and I was asked to come to the Bar at 16:00," said the lawyer, suggesting that the Bar's disciplinary commission will announce the decision on the judge's complaint against him.
In early September, the judge of the Sheki Court Rashid Huseynov sent a complaint to the Bar Association. The complaint said the lawyer Elchin Sadigov tried to prevent the trial against the journalist Elchin Ismayilov. The lawyer denied that, arguing the judge had violated his rights.
According to Sadygov, the judge, contrary to the requirements of the law, held a preparatory meeting on the journalist's case without his participation. When the lawyer expressed a protest in this connection, the judge complained about him.
In the end, the Bar ended disciplinary proceedings against Elchin Sadygov, finding the complaint unreasonable.
Recall that today the Bar decided to suspend the powers of the lawyer Yalchin Imanov on the basis of the submission of the Penitentiary Service. The lawyer was accused of publicizing the facts of torture over his client, Abbas Huseynov, in the Gobustan prison. Imanov defended the rights of many well-known political prisoners.
Earlier Elchin Namazov, Aslan Ismayilov, Khalid Baghirov and Alaif Hasanov, who also took part in resonant case trials and defended political prisoners, were excluded from the Bar. -06D--
