Aslan İsmayılov: “Uzun müdətdən bəri kitabımın bu şəkildəki təqdimatını arzu edirdim”.
The book "SUMGAIT- The Beginning of the Collapse of the Soviet Union" was launched in Turkey
Ankara/23.02.22/Turan: The book "SUMGAIT- The Beginning of the Collapse of the Soviet Union" by renowned lawyer and researcher Aslan Ismayilov was launched at the National Library of the Turkish Presidential Administration in Ankara.
In November 2021, the Istanbul-based Nestor Publishing House published the book in Turkish, English and French. The foreword to the book "Sumgayit" was written by Seyyid Sartcalik, President Erdogan's chief advisor, author of seminal works exposing the unfounded allegations of "Armenian genocide" directed against Turkey.
The scientific-political community, students and media in Turkey showed great interest in the presentation organised by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ankara, the National Library and Nestor Publishing.
Senior state officials, MPs, students speaking at the presentation ceremony characterized publication of Sumgayit in three languages based on rich archival materials as one of the important research events in Turkey.
Speakers stressed the importance of purchasing the book by important libraries, including it in a textbook, making a film based on it, and reading it as a supplementary book in higher education institutions.

The author of the book Aslan Ismayilov, said after the presentation of the book "Sumgayit" to the news agency Turan: "This book which I wrote based on documents, describes the original scene of the game against us. I revealed the inner essence of these games. The events in Sumgayit were organised by the USSR State Security Committee, the aim was to prepare the ground for a decision to annex Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia.
The Armenians tried to present us to the world as "savages", using the Sumgayit events as an excuse, and a few days later the events in Khankendi began, then the Khojaly genocide was committed and subsequently our territories were occupied. The starting point of all this was the incident committed by the Soviet KGB in Sumgayit. I thank Nestor Publishing House, which published my book in three languages in Turkey. For many years I had been waiting for the publication and presentation of "Sumgait" in Turkey. I was very pleased with the presentation at the National Library of the Turkish Presidential Administration. I express my gratitude to Seyid Sartchalik, Chief Advisor to the President, who wrote the foreword to my book, politicians, scholars, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ankara and representatives of embassies of some other countries who spoke at the presentation.
The National Library and the libraries of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey will buy my book Sumgayit, which has been published in three languages. To my thinking, this is a positive development for an Azerbaijani author. I am also very pleased with the interest shown by the Turkish media to the presentation, most of the print media wrote about it. Speakers at the ceremony suggested making a film on my book, including some fragments in the textbooks, introducing it as a supplementary reading book in history departments of higher schools, all these points make me happy.
I hope that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send appropriate instructions to our embassies to organise the publication and presentation of my book "Sumgayit" in other countries. Nestor Publishing is also planning to organise my presentation and signing ceremony at the world's second largest book fair in Istanbul in November this year. Many people in Azerbaijan think that as soon as they publish a book, it gets known in Turkey. But it is not so, promotion of books, appropriate sales and presentations are parts of a long process. I once again express my gratitude to Nestor Publishing House, which has successfully carried out this work in connection with my book "Sumgayit".
The main objective of Nestor Publishing House, established in Istanbul in autumn 2020, is to publish valuable works of Azerbaijani, Russian and world literature and science in Turkey. Among the books published by this publishing house in a short period of time were books by Azerbaijani authors Ahmed Aghaoglu, Mohammad Amin Rasulzadeh, Vagif Sultanly and others.
Also, "Nestor is planning to publish the book "Azerbaijani poet Nizami" by Mohammad Amin Rasulzadeh, Aibaniz Rahimova and "Scholars of the Turkic world" in the near future. "Nestor" is also planning to publish "Philology-Azerbaijan", seven books of prose by Rustam Ibrahimbekov, F. M. Dostoyevsky's novel Crime and Punishment (translated from the 1866 edition), stories by Vagif Sultanli. -0 -
