The US Embassy expressed its condolences to the family of the murdered journalist
Baku/23.02.22/Turan: The US Embassy in Azerbaijan expressed condolences to the family and friends of journalist Avaz Shikhmamedov (Hafizli).
“Avaz, as a journalist and social activist, showed great courage,” the condolence says".
Reporter and LGBTI activist Avaz Hafizli was killed on 22 February.
According to law enforcement agencies, the 24-year-old reporter was killed by his cousin Amrulla Gulaliyev on the basis of a personal quarrel.
Hafizli participated in protests in defense of the rights of representatives of the LGBTI community, against the new media law, and in support of press freedom.
According to colleagues, Hafizli was subjected to harassment and pressure on the basis of homophobia.—03B06-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35.
