The cassation appeal of the journalist was rejected
Baku / 12.06.18 / Turan: On June 12, the Supreme Court, presided over by Imran Hajigayibov, heard a cassation appeal from regional correspondent of Azadlig newspaper, Ziya Asadli. According to attorney Elchin Sadigov, Asadli once again stated at the trial that the real reason for his arrest is a criticism of violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens in the district of Bilasuvar. As a pretext for arrest, a conflict with a local resident was used. However, during the trial, all the accusations were not confirmed.
"All this was once again expressed in court today. However, after the meeting, the judge upheld the sentence of 3 years of imprisonment in September 2017," the lawyer said. 03B-
