And now, an unexpected turn of events. Donald Trump and Kim Jong Eun met, and it happened on Tuesday morning June 12, 2018 - remember this date. We will also take into account the fact that Trump stressed several times that he already at the first minute of the talks will be clear if they will lead to the desired result and that he will interrupt the meeting if he decides that Kim Jong-un is not prepared to conduct serious negotiations. He also stated that he did not intend to sign any documents at the end of the meeting. Trump did not leave the negotiations, Trump held them.

At first, one-on-one (well, of course, in the presence of translators) for 45 minutes, then in an extended format about one and a half hours, smoothly turning into a working lunch.

The composition of the delegations is the most serious, the talks themselves were preceded by extensive consultations.

Following the meeting, D. Trump and Kim Jong-un signed a joint declaration. The leaders of the United States and North Korea thanked each other for the successful summit. According to the US President, the document signed in Singapore is very multilateral. "We are signing a very important document. Sufficiently comprehensive, "he said. "We are both very pleased to have the honor to sign this document."

The leader of the DPRK said that the world will see great changes following the results of the historic summit. "The world will see great changes. I want to thank President Trump for the meeting. " He stressed that the DPRK and the US decided to "leave the past" and "are on the threshold of a new one."

What is the main subject of negotiations? For the parties - it is different. The US wants to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula and achieve its denuclearization (i.e., the destruction of the DPRK's nuclear arsenal). North Korea - to get guarantees of their own security, and here, as they say, the US guarantees are the most significant. Secretary of State M.Pompeo expressed the US position: the US is ready to provide the DPRK with security guarantees if it renounces nuclear weapons. At the same time, he promised that the pressure on the DPRK will continue and even be strengthened if the diplomatic approach does not work. Meanwhile, the CIA predicts that North Korea will not give up nuclear weapons.

According to the BBC, the Declaration has four main points:

-The United States and North Korea are committed to establish relations between countries in accordance with the desire of the peoples of these states to achieve peace and prosperity.

- The United States and North Korea will make joint efforts to establish a stable and lasting state of peace in the Korean peninsula.

-DPRK confirms adherence to the Panmunjom Declaration signed on April 27, 2018 and the complete liberation of the Korean peninsula from nuclear weapons.

-The United States and North Korea are committed to return the remains of prisoners of war and missing persons, including the return of already identified remains.

-Also, the United States, in response to Pyongyang's agreement to abandon its nuclear program, promises personal security guarantees to Kim Jong-un.

Background of the meeting

According to the results of the unfinished war (from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953) between the north and the south, on which the USSR and China stood on the one hand, and the US on the other side with a group of allies, Korea was divided into two zones, in the territories of which hostile to each other the DPRK and the Republic of Korea (ROK). In full accordance with the state structure of its patrons, the DPRK has established socialist totalitarianism, and the ROK, after a series of military dictatorships, has created democracy. Today, the result is clear: a poor, internationally isolated, extremely militarized North Korea and a prosperous RK as a whole.

The problem is that the DPRK is the possessor of a nuclear weapon (including, allegedly, a hydrogen bomb), which it considers a worthy argument for its own security and the conduct of a distinctive foreign policy based on the periodic testing of both the weapon itself and the launch of its vehicles. The DPRK is one of the few listed on the "evil empires" list, but international countermeasures were exclusively sporadically imposed sanctions. The last year of 2017 was the peak of tension between the two Koreas, very similar to the possible beginning of an unfinished war.

And now, an unexpected turn of events. The world learns that D. Trump is ready to meet with Kim Jong-un. The world watches intently the brotherly meetings of the leaders of the two Koreas, and so on. etc.

In full accordance with the chosen line of external (and, frankly speaking, domestic) policy, D. Trump refuses to meet the target, literally the next day to say that such a meeting is not buried under the ruins of history.

There is no clarified message that Kim Jong Un invited Trump to visit Pyongyang in July and hold a second summit there. Allegedly, this sentence is contained in a letter sent to Trump on June 1.

Secret and explicit

However, Kim Jong-un does not forget about his secret and obvious patrons: "Pyongyang is determined to ensure that Moscow and Beijing provide iron security guarantees to North Korea, protecting it from armed provocations by the US. The DPRK believes that concessions in the nuclear sphere will weaken the country's defense capability and the Americans will not fail to take advantage of it "- everything is very clear, except that both China and Russia have their own interests and apprehensions in connection with the historic meeting. As never before, the upcoming meeting between V. Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping (June 8 to June 10) at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. It will be possible to develop a unified point of view on the Korean problem following the results of the Singapore meeting and subsequent events.

Among the subsequent events is the planned visit of Kim Jong Un to Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, on a visit to Pyongyang on May 31, invited Kim Jong Ne to visit Russia to hold top-level talks. According to Lavrov, during the meeting, the leader of the DPRK, in particular, said that his country's will "to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula remains unchanged, consistent and firm" and noted that "he wants to find a solution that meets the interests of all parties."

China has its own problems - the unification of Korea will advance US troops currently deployed in South Korea, right at the Chinese border. Therefore, we should expect the nearest talks between the PRC and the DPRK.

And, finally, about the seriousness of Kim Jong-un's intentions: before the summit with US President Donald Trump, the leader of the DPRK succeeded three high-ranking representatives of the country's military command (the minister of the people's armed forces, the chief of the General Staff and the head of the main political administration of the army). It is believed that the former leadership was conservative and did not welcome a possible decision to suspend the DPRK nuclear program. The replacement of the orthodox command of the militarized North Korea gives hope for the implementation of the agreements reached and the reduction of unforeseen emergency situations on the way of reconstruction of the Korean peninsula.
