The consideration of the appeal on "Nardaran case-1"

Baku/22.0218/Turan: Today, the Supreme Court, presided over by Shahin Yusifov, began considering the cassation appeal of the leader of the movement "Muslim Unity" Tale Bagirzade, deputy chairman of the People's Front Fuad Gahramanly, and 16 other convicts on the Nardaran events. The hearings took place without the participation of the accused. Only three lawyers of the convicts - Fariz Namazli, Elchin Sadygov and Zibeida Sadigova participated in the trial.

The judge announced that the remaining lawyers did not participate for unknown reasons.

However, it was brought to the attention of the judge that the two lawyers were suspended from the indicated lawyers - Yalchin Imanov and Fakhraddin Mehdiyev, and Neymat Kerimli is on another trial.

Lawyers said that their clients were tortured, not only during the preliminary investigation but also during the trial. There was pressure on witnesses. Many of them were summoned before the court to the police and demanded to testify against Bagirzade. The pressure intensified after the defendants in the court of first instance demanded that Interior Minister Ramil Usubov be summoned to court.

Attorney Zibeida Sadigova drew attention to the fact that the investigation alleges that the weapons found in the defendants were produced at Russian plants. However, a request for defense against plants received replies that these units of weapons were not produced in the Russian Federation.

In addition, the lower courts were not questioned by the head of the department of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kerim Alimardanov.

The lawyers were asked to make a particular determination in his respect and other employees of the said administration - Islam Agabekov, Ibrahim Kazimov and Shahlar Jafarov, who tortured convicts.

The defense asked to justify all those arrested. Lawyers also asked the court to recognize the violation of the rights of convicts, when law enforcement authorities before the trial declared them "terrorists" and "criminals". The next court trial is scheduled for March 1.

On November 26, 2015, the police carried out a special operation in Nardaran, as a result of which Tale Bagirzadeh and a group of his supporters were arrested. In total, within a few days, more than 70 people were arrested, who were later convicted by several groups for various terms of imprisonment. -06D-
