The convicted editor of the website "Reallıq-info" asks to let him to the front
Baku/30.09.20/Turan: The head of the website “Reallıq-info” Ikram Rahimoglu, arrested in 2018, appealed to the head of state Ilham Aliyev with a request to send him to the combat zone.
In an interview with Turan, he motivated his decision with a desire to contribute to the liberation of the occupied territories.
“I am a reserve officer, I don’t want to be left on the sidelines at this fateful hour for the country,” he told Turan by phone.
Rahimov was arrested in October 2018 after the publication of an open letter criticizing Ali Hasanov, the then assistant to the head of state.
On June 12, 2018, he was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison. In protest, he started a hunger strike, which he ended on the 30th day - September 5.
On September 18, the Court of Appeal confirmed Rahimov's guilt of extortion through threats, but applying Article 62 of the Criminal Code (the appointment of a lesser punishment prescribed by law), reduced the term of imprisonment to 3 years. Rahimov's verdict was condemned by a number of international journalistic organizations. -06D-

In the stillness of New Year’s Eve, as fireworks lit up the sky over Zagatala, Azerbaijan, a much grimmer scene unfolded. Around 15 stray dogs, accustomed to gathering at the Danachi landfill on the outskirts of the city, were shot by unknown assailants. The timing, coinciding with the fireworks, likely masked the sound of gunfire, ensuring that the heinous act went unnoticed until dawn.
