The court arrested human rights activist T.Hasmamedov for three months (UPDATED)

The human rights activist Taleh Hasmamedov  was arrested on  Thursday  by   Goychay Regional  Court for three months,  according to activist Oktay Gyulaliyev.

Hasmamedovis charged under Article 221.2 of the Criminal Code (repeated hooliganism.) Protection intends to appeal the court's decision on remand.

The courthouse was taken under heavy police protection. The chief of the regional  police roughly pushed the mother of human rights activists who tried to enter the courtroom. In protest, the accused's brother cut his hands.

After the court hearing the police dispersed several dozen local activists before the court.

Meanwhile, local activists managed to find out the identity of the person who has arranged a provocation against Hasmamedova two days ago. It is  Zair Azizov, who works closely with the police. He  used to be a witness in 10 cases. In addition, on the day of his arrest, he was seen in a cafe, which Hasmamedov attends. This gave reason to believe that Azizov was watching Hasmamedov.

In Geychay remains uncertain  The fate of human rights activist Taleh Hasmamedov, who was  detained on February 24^th in  the region of Geychay remains uncertain.

At 13:00 on February 26, expired 48 hours after his arrest. According to the law, he should be released and brought to justice. However, the hearing scheduled for the morning and the evening, February 25, were postponed. The process the trial  was scheduled for the morning of February 26, but was also postponed. Now police says that the  trial will take place at 16:00,  according to activist Oktay Gyulalyev.

According to him, the state lawyer reported that Hasmamedov is  charged under Article 221.2 (repeated hooliganism) of the Criminal Code.

This information has caused discontent of local activists who had gathered outside the courthouse. Witnesses of the incident came to the police to give evidence of the innocence of Hasmamedov, but they are not received. The mother of the detainee, Gyulbuta Hasmamedova, appealed to the president of Azerbaijan. She said that she was a witness of provocations against her son, and requests to intervene and prevent the unjust arrest.

* Hasmamedov was detained in Goychay on February 24 before a furniture store. When he left the store,   an unknown individual came up to him and spat in his face. Then the man fell to the ground, pretending that  he was beaten by Hasmamedov. Police detained  both of them.

Hasmamedov is a  known human rights activist in Goychay-Ujar region, and criticized local authorities on facebook. Previously, he was  convicted for his human rights work, but two years ago was pardoned.—06B-

Detained yesterday in Goychay defender Thale Khasmamedov is charged under Article 221.2 (repeated hooliganism) of the Criminal Code, a human rights activist Oktay Gyulaliyev told Turan. On Wednesday, he had to appear before the court in Goychay for a preventive measure. However, despite the fact that the hearing was twice appointed for 11.00 and 17.00, it did not take place and was rescheduled for February 26th.

Yesterday Khasmamedov was detained in Goychay in a furniture store.

When Thale left the store, he was approached by an unknown man, who spat into his face.

Then the man fell to the ground, pretending that he was beaten by Khasmamedov.

Both were detained by the police.

According to Gyulaliyev, it was a planned provocation against the activist. "The detention of Thale Khasmamedov was planned provocation. Police were sent to the site of the incident in advance. The investigation is refusing the testimony of eyewitnesses of the incident. We have video footage of the incident. We will present it to the media and let the public see how it all happened," said Gyulaliyev.

Meanwhile, local observers believe that the customer of the arrest may be the new head of Goychay Mubariz Agayev. He was appointed to this position on 27 January. And on February 8 Khasmamedov wrote on his page on Facebook that Agayev, on the occasion of his appointment, arranged a solemn meeting, to which people were gathered "for hire". Next Khasmamedov wrote that Agayev warned all district officials that within 6 months no one can go on vacation. In addition, as Khasmamedov wrote, he drew workers of district institutions and teachers to street cleaning. Further, he wrote about the protests in Goychay against problems with electrical and water supply.
