The court leaves Khadija Ismayilova in custody
On 25 November Baku Court of Appeal chaired by Ilgar Murguzova dismissed the appeal of the convicted journalist Khadija Ismayilova. According to the correspondent of Turan who reported from the court, the judge upheld the verdict of the court of first instance, condemning the journalist by 7.5 years on charges of tax evasion, embezzlement and abuse.
Khadija Ismayilova who was recognized by the international community as a "prisoner of conscience" received numerous awards for exposing corruption in the highest echelons of power in Azerbaijan. That is the real reason for her arrest. According to the procedure, the verdict comes into force in the coming days, the journalist must be transferred into the women's jail N4 located within the Baku. -16/06С-

A fire has erupted at the Experimental and Testing Production of the Scientific Research Institute of SOCAR (the state oil company) in the Surakhani district of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
