The Court of Appeal has left Huseyn Melik under arrest
Baku/16.10.23/Turan: On October 16, the Baku Court of Appeal rejected a complaint against the arrest of Huseyn Melik, a member of the Board of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Welfare Party (APWP.) Melik said in court that he did not consider himself guilty and regarded his arrest as political persecution, his lawyer Javad Javadov told. "The court did not grant any of the defense's petitions," the lawyer said.
Melik was detained on October 10. On the same day, the court sentenced him to 30 days of administrative arrest, finding him guilty under Articles 510 (petty hooliganism) and 535.1 (disobeying the police) Code of Administrative Misconduct.
The party called the arrest a political order. Melik has been subjected to administrative arrests more than once before. ---03b06---
