The Court of Appeal will send an appeal to the Prosecutor's office to investigate A.Yahyaev's complaint of torture

Baku/07.09.23/Turan: On September 7, the Sumgayit Court of Appeal concluded consideration of a complaint against the arrest of a member of the Board of the “Muslim Unity” Movement, Agali Yahyaev, accused of drug trafficking. The complaint was not satisfied. The appellate instance upheld the decision of the Absheron District Court on the election of a preventive measure against Yahyaev in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months,  lawyer Zibeyda Sadygova  told Turan.

In connection with Yahyaev's complaint about torture in the police after detention, the court decided to send an appeal to the Absheron district prosecutor's office to conduct an appropriate investigation, Sadygova said. Earlier, Yahyaev's wife and sister announced the use of torture against him in order to force him to give confessions.

Yahyaev was detained on August 31. The next day, he was charged under Article 234.4.3 (large-scale drug trafficking) The Criminal Code and the court's decision have chosen a preventive measure in the form of arrest. Yahyaev faces a sentence of imprisonment from 5 to 12 years. ---03B06---
