The court rejected the journalist's complaint against the prosecutor's office
Baku/05.02.21/Turan: The Binagadi District Court of Baku rejected the complaint of the opposition journalist and activist Mustafa Hajibeyli against the prosecutor's office.
The head of the press service of the Musavat party and the head of the Basta website, Mustafa Hajibeyli, filed a complaint against the inaction of the Binagadi district prosecutor's office.
The complaint is related to the detention and beating of Hajibeyli in February last year at a protest in front of the CEC building. However, the prosecutor's office did not find "grounds" to initiate a criminal case. In this regard, the journalist appealed against the inaction of the prosecutor's office in court.
On January 28, a trial began in the Binagadi court, to which lawyer Neimat Karimli was not allowed. On February 5, the trial continued and again the lawyer was not allowed to the trial.
“I petitioned to attach to the case a video of my being detained with the use of force. However, the court rejected the petition. The representative of the prosecutor's office said that the action was not coordinated and administrative responsibility is due for participation in it. If I committed an offense, I could be brought to administrative responsibility, and not beaten. The examination confirmed that I have wounds on my lower lip, bruises in my right and left eyes,” Hajibeyli said.
As a result, the court dismissed the complaint. Hajibeyli intends to appeal. — 06D-
