Ulvi Hasanli charged with smuggling (updated)
Baku/21.11.23/Turan: On the evening of November 20, Ulvi Hasanli was charged under Art. 206.3.2 (smuggling of foreign currency by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Lawyer Zibeyda Sadigova told reporters about this. He has been brought in as a suspect and will be placed in a pre-trial detention cell.
Hasanli pleaded not guilty and called the accusation unfounded.
“When money was found in the Abzas Media office - 40 thousand euros, he said that this money did not belong to him and he did not see it. “Unfortunately, he was charged with this,” the lawyer said.
In all likelihood, on November 21, the court will consider the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of arrest against Hasanli.
According to the charges, Hasanli faces from 7 to 12 years in prison. –06V-

Baku/20.11.23/Turan: The director of the online publication Abzas Media, Ulvi Hasanli, who was detained early on Monday morning, told his colleagues how he was detained. He managed to do this during a search in the office of Abzas.
His story was recorded by colleagues and posted on the Internet.
Hasanli said that when he went to the airport, the police stopped him and brought him to the Department, where physical and psychological pressure was put on him.
“They punched and kicked me, demanding to explain why we write about corruption and don’t write about Karabakh,” says Hasanli.
He also denies that the 40 thousand euros allegedly found in the editorial office belong to him or to Abzas Media. -0-
