The family sentenced to death the daughter who ran away from her husband
The State Committee for Family, Children and Women Affairs has taken control of the fate of an Azerbaijani woman born in 2007, whose life is in danger.
A 16-year-old girl was married by her family to a 40-year-old man, Turan was informed from the Goygol region. A short time later, the young wife ran away from her husband with a guy who, after living with her, abandoned the woman far from the city on the highway. The woman's relatives learned about it, and entrusted the girl's brother, an 11-grade student , to kill her. The young woman managed to run away from her relatives, Parvin Abysheva, an activist of the women's rights movement, told Turan.
The Goygol regional office of the State Committee for Family, Children and Women Affairs has been notified of this event, efforts are being made to rescue her and place her in a safe place.
According to the chairman of the Children's Protection Society Kamali Agazade, the Interior Ministry is also taking legal measures to protect a citizen whose name has not been disclosed. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed Agazade's information.
To prevent such cases, the State Committee holds meetings with citizens in all major settlements of Azerbaijan. Support centers for victims of family violence are located in 11 regions of the country, the head of the press service of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
Cases of illegal betrothal and marriage of underage girls are common in Azerbaijan, Kamala Agazade told Turan. Such cases are suppressed by the police. The arrest and subsequent initiation of a criminal case against Mubariz Guliyev from Sabirabad region, who had betrothed a 12-year-old daughter in the last days of last year, was especially effective. After that story, there were massive refusals of girls to obey the will of their parents, who try to marry or betroth minor daughters against their will.
