THE FESTIVAL "EUROPEAN TOWN"
 A festival "European Town" began in the State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icheri Sheher" on Saturday. The event was organized by the office of the European Union and EU embassies in Baku together with the Azerbaijani European Movement (AEM); culture of the peoples of Europe: dance, music, cuisine, languages, etc. is presented.
 
There are special sections-tents of the EU countries, where visitors are offered informational materials, objects of culture, and culinary products.
 
On a special makeshift it ispossible to dance with volunteers the dances of the peoples of Europe. There are opportunities for karaoke lovers.
 
There is also a tent for learning foreign languages. Here for a short time you can have blitz-courses in the languages ​​of Europe and learn the most used expressions.
 
The EU ambassadors welcomed the audience in their own languages. The Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Roland Kobia, called the organization of the festival "European Town" in the 'Icheri Sheher' as a demonstration of friendship between the EU and Azerbaijan.
 
The visitors can get a symbolic "passport" of the EU and the "visa"; Kobia said tat in the near future it wil be possible to sign an agreement on visa facilitation, which will contribute to the growth of the mutual visits.
 
Commenting on the upcoming presidential election, Kobia expressed his hope that the election campaign will be transparent, open and fair. Thus, the government must show that the elections will be fair, and the EU, for its part, should assist. The EU is ready to send a monitoring group to monitor the elections and to mobilize their local resources, he said. According to Kobia, the CEC will invite the EU observers.
 
Being asked to comment on the creation of the National Council, Kobia said that the revitalization of the political parties in the election year is "quite normal."
 
The "European Town" will be open on June 1-2, from 11:00 to 21:00.
 
On Saturday and Sunday from 19:00 to 21:00 there will be concerts by famous Azerbaijani and European musicians.
