The lawyer meets with Elchin Sadigov
Baku/15.09.22/Turan: Lawyer Elchin Sadigov, who is being held in the pre-trial detention center of the State Security Service (SSS), for the first time since his detention on September 10 was allowed to meet with a defense lawyer.
On September 14, lawyer Shahla Humbatova met with him.
She told a Turan correspondent that Sadigov did not complain about the conditions of his detention and treatment. However, he denies the accusation of complicity in bribery.
On September 10, lawyer Sadygov and journalist Avaz Zeynalli were detained by employees of the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office; searches were conducted in their homes and offices, documents and electronic information carriers were seized.
On September 11, the Binagadi District Court of Baku arrested Avaz Zeynalli and Elchin Sadigov for 4 months. They were charged under the Articles: 311.3.3 and 32.5, 311 (assistance in receiving a bribe on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
Human rights activists considered the accusations of Zeynalli and Sadigov fabricated and politically motivated. --16D06--

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony.
