The mother of the journalist appealed to the Prosecutor General
Baku/02.04.18/Turan: Mother of the editor of portal www.7gun.az Javid Shiraliyev, sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment, Zahir Shiralieva appealed to Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov with a request to take control of her son's case and facilitate his release.
Javid Shiraliyev was sentenced on May 22, 2016 by the Ganja Serious Crimes Court on charges of extortion by threats (Articles 182.2.1 and 182.2.4 of the Criminal Code) Shiraliyev was detained by the officers of the Moscow International Criminal Court on August 30, 2014 and taken to the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GUBOP.)
The mother of the journalist believes that her son was arrested on false charges on the basis of a complaint by Shafigi Ismayil gizi, who secretly cooperates with law enforcement agencies.
The mother notes that in August 2017 the Supreme Court quashed the verdict and returned the case to the Court of Appeal. However, the Ganja Court of Appeal has been unreasonably delaying the consideration of the case for 7 months already.
"The prosecutor prefers to prejudge the transfer of meetings, unreasonably prolonging the detention of my son in custody," Z. Shiralieva writes.
In conclusion, she asks Garalov to take the case under strict control and facilitate the release of her son. -06D--

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. However, questions have arisen about the legitimacy of the group, as an internet search yields little evidence of its existence beyond scattered mentions.

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
