Baku / 11.02.19 / Turan: On February 11, a meeting of the Commission for pardon was held at the President of Azerbaijan. According to commission member Alimammad Nuriyev, 60 appeals were considered. At the commission meeting last week, 100 appeals were considered, he said.
According to him, the prisoners received hundreds of complaints from prisoners, their lawyers and relatives.
The cases studied by the commission will be submitted to the head of state, who will decide who to pardon.
The previous act of clemency was adopted in Azerbaijan in May 2018 - on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the People"s Republic of Azerbaijan. Then the pardon touched 634 prisoners. -03B-

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
