The prosecutor suggests to sentence activist of Facebook A.Abilova to 6.5 years of imprisonment
Trial in the case of Facebook -activist Abdul Abilova continued in the Baku Serious Crimes Court chaired by Abdul Abilov. At today’s trial the final word was given to the state prosecutor, who offered to condemn Abilova to six years and six months imprisonment. Abilov asked the judge time to speak with the final word. The judge Guliyev scheduled the next hearing for May 27.
Abilov was arrested on November 22, 2013 near his home in the Yasamal region by the employees of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Interior Ministry. During the detention of his pocket was allegedly removed a plastic bag with 2,679 g. heroin, and in a rented apartment from his jacket were removed 4,677 grams of heroin.
Abilov was prosecuted under Article 234.4.3 (illegal possession or sale of drugs on a large scale,) which prescribes penalties of up to 12 years in prison . At trial, the young man said that arrested for political reasons, and for the activity on Facebook, and in particular, for the creation of the page titled
"Stop sycophants." Human rights activists consider Abilov a political prisoners . -16C06-
