The prosecutor’s office should re-investigate the role of doctors in the death of Rasim Aliyev, lawyer
In the Baku Serious Crimes Court today continued the Trial in the case of the murder of journalist Rasim Aliyev continued today in the Baku Serious Crimes Court. According to the lawyer Fariz Namazly, today began the final performance protection. At the last meeting the prosecutor asked to imprison the five accused to imprisonment from 11.5 to 14 years. Namazly in his speech expressed disapproval of the family of the journalist that the doctors of the clinical center avoided responsibility, where Aliyev was taken after the beating, and died. The lawyer asked the court to take into account the negligence of doctors.
The defense also did not agree with separation of the criminal case of the player Javid Huseynov. Taking it into account it was the lawyer asked, along with the sentencing, to send a letter to the prosecutor on the investigation actions of doctors, and bringing Huseynov to justice for involvement in organizing the attack on the journalist. The mother of the deceased journalist Teyfura Aliyev asked the court to sentence them to the most severe punishment. In turn, the lawyers of the accused asked for time to prepare for performances, and the judge scheduled the next hearing on March 3.
Rasim Aliyev was beaten by a group of athletes from 5-6 people 8 August, 2015. The next day he died in hospital from internal bleeding. People who beat him were arrested. The reason for the attack was the criticism by the journalist of the action of the known player Javid Huseynov. The people decided to take revenge for his criticism of his friends and relatives. The main culprit, Javid Huseynov, is charged with failure to report the planned crime, although the injured party and Rasim Aliyev’s counterparts regard him the organizer of the crime. -05B-
