The reporter summoned to the police because of the publication in Facebook
Baku / 19.10.17 / Turan: The reporter of the sports newspaper "Futbol +" Shafi Shafiev was summoned to the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime (MDCO) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on October 19, Shafiev told Turan. Prior to visiting the office, he did not know the reasons for summoning.
It turned out that the MDCO is not happy with claims of photos and video about mass protests in Baku on October 15-16, 2003 after the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, which he shared on Facebook.
Though Shafiev went to the police with a lawyer Elchin Sadygov, the latter was not allowed into the office.
The journalist made a comment about the fact that he shared a photo of a police officer, who now holds a high post in the Interior Ministry.
Shafiev was "recommended" no longer share such content on the Internet, after that he was released.
On October 16, 2003, a mass protest took place on the Azadlig Square in Baku against the officially announced data on the results of the presidential elections, the winner of which was Ilham Aliyev.

On January 7, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree increasing the salaries of employees in several organizations funded by the state budget. According to the decree, the monthly salaries of managerial and other employees in around 20 institutions (including the Presidium, Apparatus, and Ganja Branch of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and the Heydar Aliyev Center) will increase by an average of 15% starting January 1, 2025.
