Baku/18.11.21/Turan: Azerbaijan is preparing a draft of a new law "On the status of military personnel", which will cover the military of all branches of the armed forces and provides for a 2-3-fold increase in official salaries.

It should be noted that at the end of last year, by order of the head of Azerbaijan, the presidential scholarships were increased for families of martyrs and war invalids. The participants in the war, according to the current legislation, receive an allowance of only 80 manats.

Is this a sufficient amount? Is there an increase in benefits for veterans expected? A war veteran Natig said that he did not go to fight in wars because of benefits.

“We went to war knowing what to expect. I came back safe and sound, earning at the very least. But the allowance of 80 manats is very small. Essentially nothing,” said the veteran.

The chairman of the Binagadi branch of the youth structure of the "Veterans of Karabakh" public association Ayaz Gasimov said that in February this year, a commission was created to award the title of "War Veteran".

It was announced that a list of participants in the war would be drawn up and relevant proposals were sent to the Cabinet of Ministers. However, the war veteran status is still not awarded to the participants in the war. Therefore, even 80 manats are not paid.

Even the 410 manat allowance paid to war invalids is not enough, Hasanov continued. According to him, veterans need to establish an allowance of at least 150 manats.

MP Fazil Mustafa believes that even if veterans are paid not 80, but 100 or 150 manats, this money will still not be enough. It is more important to provide veterans with jobs and a decent salary.

“Our main problem is employment. If we solve it, then other issues will also be resolved,” Mustafa said. Expert-economist Neymat Aliyev called the government's social policy unsuitable, especially in the area of payment of pensions and benefits. The participants in the war need special care.

“Even those who have not been injured are heroes. Therefore, all war veterans should be surrounded by high social security,” he said.

“Over the past 9 months, Azerbaijan's net profit from foreign trade turnover amounted to 9 billion manats. The state also raised significant funds from the rise in prices for local goods. Therefore, the arguments that there is no money to increase benefits are not consistent,” Aliyev said. — 06D-
