Niyaməddin Əhmədov
The trial of the PPFA activist has been postponed indefinitely
Baku/08.09.21/Turan: The court hearing scheduled for September 8 in the case of the bodyguard of the leader of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA), Niyameddin Akhmedov has been postponed due to the state prosecutor's illness.
In turn, human rights protection activist Zafar Akhmedov told reporters that the judicial investigation is currently examining the documents. To his thinking, no Akhmedov's guilt has been proven.
"There is no fact of "terror" in the case, and, hence, there is no "financing of terror" and, accordingly,"committing terror as a member of the group". From the very beginning of the trial, it became obvious that all the charges against Akhmedov had been invalid," the human rights protection activist said.
Note that the judicial investigation has been postponed indefinitely.
*On April 16, 2020, the Khatai District Court of Baku arrested Niyameddin Akhmedov for 30 days for violating quarantine. On April 28, he was taken out of the pre-trial detention center and subjected to severe tortures demanding to testify against Ali Kerimli.
After the expiration of the administrative arrest, on May 16, Akhmedov was charged under Article 214-1 (financing of terrorism) of the Criminal Code and arrested again.
