İradə Bayramova
The wife of Gubad Ibadoglu was declared against her and her husband during the detention
Baku/24.07.23/Turan: The day before, his wife Irada Bayramova was detained along with an opposition politician, Bayramova told reporters. According to Bayramova, during the arrest, plainclothes police officers exerted physical pressure on them. “They blocked our car with their cars. We were dropped off and taken in different cars to the main Directorate for combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. When they put me in their car, they used force. They beat me in the neck with their fists," Bayramova said.
"Both Gubad and I have traces of violence on my body. We cannot give Gubad the medicine. He is sick and has to take medications several times during the day. Not allowing him to do this, they just want to kill Gubad," Bayramova continued.
She called on civil society not to remain indifferent to the "massacre" of Ibadoglu and raise the voice of protest," Bayramova said. She believes that Ibadoglu was detained on the instructions of the President of Azerbaijan. Bayramova showed reporters traces of violence – bruises and bruises on her right forearm.
Ibadoglu's brother Galib Bayramov told reporters that during the arrest, the politician's car, in which he was with his wife, was chased by six police cars. Gubad Ibadoglu and his wife were put in different cars and brought to the main directorate for combating Organized Crime.
They were kept in separate rooms. The politician's spouse was released at about 19:00. The deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani Democracy and Welfare Party, Ellada Mammadli, said that the organization does not believe the accusations made by Ibadoglu.
"Why was such a bright person and intellectual slandered? When did Gubad bey become a member of FETÖ (a terrorist organization declared in Turkey associated with the Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen living in the United States)? Gubad is very picky in his actions, makes deliberate decisions. We do not believe that he gave money to someone for some criminal purposes.
He is a very responsible person, a supporter of transparency, and especially in matters of money," Mammadli said.
Human rights activist Zafar Ahmedov recalled that since 2016, several oppositionists have been accused of having ties with FETÖ, but later the charges were changed. ---0---
"These charges were announced when oppositionists Faig Amirli, Fuad Ahmedli and Elgiz Gahraman were arrested. The investigative body first arrests, and then "composes" the accusation. They will also "find" an article for Gubad Ibadoglu," Ahmadli said.
The Interior Ministry denied allegations of physical pressure on Bayramova for her detention. —06B-
