"They want to convict me in any way," lawyer of Leyla Yunus
The Yasamal district court chaired by Azer Tagiyev continued the trial on the claim of Nuria Huseynova, the former cellmate of Leyla Yunus, against a lawyer Alaif Hasanov.
The lawyer unveiled facts of physical pressure by Huseynova on Yunus in prison where they were kept together. His report was published in the newspaper "Azadlig" on September 17, 2014. After this Huseynova "was offended" that the lawyer called her "a criminal."
Later on the name of Ganimat Zahid, the chief editor of the newspaper "Azadlig", was also included the claim, but then Huseynova changed her mind to offend him. At the trial on November 5 Hasanov asked for passing the case to the Court of Zardab region the place of his residence.
A lawyer also presented a certificate that he is a member of the district election commission in 92-nd Zardab District. The law limits the possibility of criminal liability for the members of the election commission, and this requires the resolution of the prosecutor.
Lawyer Cavad Cavadov supported petitions to refer the case to the court of Zardob district. However, the judge Tagiyev disagreed with this, stating that the request to transfer the case to the Court of Zardab had been considered.
Then Alaif Hasanov said that he is persecuted for the statements not belonging to him. Noting that "Azadlig" newspaper has used his status in facebook, and added his comments. At the same time, the editors presented to the court official document confirming it all. " They simply want to convict me by any way, and want to do it in the Yasamal court," said Hasanov.
Huseynova opposed the proceedings in the court of Zardob, explaining it by the fact that she was ill and distant way has negative impact on her health.
Then Alaif Hasanov rejected all members of the Yasamal District Court. However, withdrawal was not accepted. The next trial was scheduled for 6 November.-06D-
