Three People Convicted for Plotting Terrorist Attack against Jewish School
Yesterday the Baku Court of Grave Crimes concluded the trial of three people accused of plotting terrorist attacks against foreign nationals. The court sentenced Rasim Aliyev to 14 years in prison, Ali Huseynov to 13, and Rauf Abilov to 8. They were found guilty under articles 277 (preparing attack on public figures) and 206.3.2 (group smuggling of firearms, etc.) of the Criminal Code.
The arrest of the people by DHS was reported on January 19 2012, when this ministry disclosed a conspiracy against foreign public figures.
Another key member of the planned attacks, Balagardash Dadashev, is hiding in the city of Ardabil in Iran. He is wanted on charges of banditry, kidnapping and robbery. He is believed to be in collaboration with Iranian intelligence services.
According to investigators, the organizer of the failed attack was Dadashov, who provided the other members with guns and other necessities. From the story shown on the state television AzTV, we can conclude that the object of the alleged attacks was teachers of the Jewish School in Baku. -06D-
