Trial on Rauf Mirkadyrov Appointed for November 4
The preparatory hearing on the case of the journalist Rauf Mirkadyrov is scheduled for November 4 at 15:00 in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes presided over by Judge Alisultan Osmanov. Turan was told by the judge Osmanov himself.
Mirkadyrov was arrested on April 19, 2015 immediately after the deportation from Turkey. The journalist was charged under Article 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code.
Mirkadyrov is accused of participating in the projects of the Institute for Peace and Democracy in cooperation with civil society in Armenia and transfer of information being state secrets during these actions.
The journalist denies the charges. Human rights activists consider him a political prisoner. -03B-
