Two Azerbaijani Citizens Tried to Import 1.3 Kg of Gold to Georgia
Tbilisi / 19.06.17 / Turan: Two Azerbaijani citizens were detained in Georgia for illegal importation of more than 1.3 kilograms of gold products, the Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry said.
The defendants passed the customs control at the crossing of the Georgian-Azerbaijani border through the Red Bridge checkpoint.
According to the same source, the cost of contraband gold found on them was more than 676 thousand lari (more than 281 thousand dollars). However, this is much higher than the real price in the international market.
The criminal case was initiated under the article Violation of Rules Related to the Movement of Goods across the Customs Border of Georgia, Committed in a Particularly Large Amount, which is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 7 years. The names of the detainees are not reported. -03D-
