United States trains Azerbaijani journalists in economic journalism
From October 2-5, 2017, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organized a training for 10 Azerbaijani economic journalists from various news agencies and media outlets. The course trained the journalists on the use of local and international economic databases, the verification of economic data, and how to write easy-to-read, data-driven stories.
USAID supports media programs world-wide through a combination of U.S.- based, regional, global and in-country training, workshops, and conferences, as part of United States support of a free press, as well as the promotion of media ethics and journalistic professionalism, all fundamental to a free and open democratic society.
The U.S. government has worked closely over the past 25 years with the Government of Azerbaijan on a number of programs focused on improving public access to information and building the professional capacity of journalists. These efforts have included the provision of internet connectivity among citizens in rural areas, as well as offering professional journalism and media ethics training.
