US financed the construction of a school for refugees from Lachin
Baku / 03.10.17 / Turan: With US financial assistance, a new school was opened in the village of Masazir, Absheron region, on October 3. It was built for internally displaced people from the village of Chyragly, Lachin district. The ceremony was attended by the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Sekuta, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, and the Ministry of Education. The US Ambassador Robert Sekuta said that America will continue to provide assistance in training displaced people from Lachin. Through the program of the US Department of Defense, 16 school projects have been implemented.
Lachin and other schools were built with the assistance of the Office of Defense Cooperation of the US Embassy, the Corps of Military Engineers and the European Command of the United States.
According to him, the 17th school next year will be built in the Barda district. Since 2003, the US Department of Defense has carried out 22 humanitarian projects for refugees, for which $ 5 million has been allocated.
The head of the executive power of Lachin district Agil Nazarli noted that the new school is designed for 350 schoolchildren. A symbolic key from the school was presented to him by a representative of the European Command of the United States and the Military Engineering Corps.
Since 1992, the US government has provided humanitarian assistance to Azerbaijan in the amount of more than 1.3 billion dollars. -03B04-
