Was human rights activist Elshan Hasanov detained?
Baku / 06.03.19 / Turan: Human rights activist Elshan Hasanov was summoned to the police this morning, Turan was told by the activist's wife.
According to her, around 9:30 he called and said that he was in the police. However, he did not have time to inform in which administration or police station he was specifically located. After that, Hasanov"s mobile phone is not responding.
The wife believes that Hasanov is in the police of the Sabunchu district, in whose territory he lives.
Two days ago, the Union for the Freedom of Political Prisoners of Azerbaijan, coordinated by Hasanov, announced a new list of political prisoners and announced the release of a report on torture in places of detention and imprisonment.
Hasanov had previously been convicted to 2 years in prison for participating in a protest rally on April 2, 2011 and was recognized as a "prisoner of conscience".
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Turan that they do not have information on this issue. In the Sabunchu district police department they reported that Hasanov was not there. -06D--
