Witnesses Questioned at Aziz Orujov Trial
Baku / 24.10.17 / Turan: Today in the Baku Grave Crimes Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Mirzali Khankishiyev, a regular meeting was held on the case of Aziz Orujov, the director of Internet TV Kanal 13. The hearings of the testimony of the witnesses were continued.
The accountant for Kanal 13, Kubra Mammadova, said she also collaborated with the Caucasus Center for Media Research. She noted that in none of these bodies she had ever faced with facts of tax evasion and she had always prevented such violations herself.
Mammadova led bookkeeping in these bodies since 2009 and, depending on the projects, she received 100-150 manat per month for her work.
The head of the organization for the protection of monuments of history and culture in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan Faig Ismayilov also noted that he participated in the projects of the Caucasus Media Research Center.
The trial session will be continued on November 3.
Aziz Orujov was arrested on May 2 in administrative order for 30 days for disobeying the police. At the end of this period, he was charged with criminal charges under Articles 192.2.2 (Illegal Business with the Extraction of Large Income) and 308.2 (Abuse of Official Powers, which Entailed Grave Consequences) of the Criminal Code.
He rejected all the charges. Human rights organizations recognize the journalist as a political prisoner. -06D-

As part of the struggle against illegal migration in Baku city, operative actions were carried out at different addresses. The Interior Ministry reports that employees of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration identified and detained 34 foreigners without documents giving the right to reside and stay on the territory of Azerbaijan.

During the operation of the Main Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 5 members of an organized group engaged in drug trafficking were detained. All of them have previous convictions: Bahlul Ismayilov, Royal Aliyev, Khayal Aliyev, Samir Aghayev, and Ali Mammadli.
