Youth activist imprisoned in solitary confinement
Imprisoned member of the NIDA Movement Ilkin Rustamzade the second time in a month was placed to a solitary confinement, reads the statement of NIDA, said his father who brought on the December 18 a parcel to his son in prison in Kurdakhani. The father was not told the reason for the punishment.
The first time he was placed in solitary confinement for a critical article on the Joint Working Group. The NIDA members believe that now he has been placed to the solitary confinement second time in for berating the guards for the inhuman treatment at the last meeting of the Court of Appeal.
NIDA calls to stop pressure on Rustamzade, and encourages international organizations to monitor the situation with him.
* On May 6 the Serious Crimes Court sentenced eight NIDA activists to imprisonment from six to eight years, and found them guilty in the preparation of mass disorders, drug possession and explosives.
Amnesty International found all the eight convicted prisoners of conscience. Later was convicted Ilkin Rustamzade, who also joined the NIDA.
Later three of the convicted appealed to the head of state with a call to pardon them, after which they were pardoned.-1604-
