Baku/06.04.23/Turan: The head of the Salyan district organization of the Popular Front Party, Zamin Salayev, continues his hunger strike for the 59th day in the Baku pre-trial detention center-1. He protests against the charges, demanding his release. Lawyer Neymat Kerimli visited Salayev in Baku pre-trial detention center-1 on April 6.
"Zamin Salayev's health has worsened. He has severe headaches, dizziness, and can hardly move. He continues to faint," the lawyer said. Nevertheless, Salayev continues his hunger strike and intends to go to the end.
According to the lawyer, Salayev has not yet been placed in the infirmary of the pre-trial detention center. "He is not under constant medical supervision. Doctors come to him after his health worsens," Kerimli said.
The lawyer said that on April 7, the Garadagh district Court will consider a complaint against the refusal to transfer him to house arrest. The attempts to get comments from the Prison Service were futile.
On February 8, the Garadagh District Court of Baku arrested Zamin Salayev for three months. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code. The activist faces up to 5 years in prison.
Zamin Salayev said in court that the accusation made against him is false and he is being punished for criticizing the authorities in social networks. ---06B---
