Zamin Salayev is on hunger strike for 113 days
Baku/30.05.2023/Turan: Head of Salyan district organization of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan Zamin Salayev is on hunger strike for 113 days, demanding release from jail. This was reported to Turan by his wife Saida Salayeva after a telephone conversation.
"Zamin's condition is extremely serious. I met with him yesterday and spoke to him on the phone today. He has changed beyond recognition, lost 49 kg and now weighs 69 kg. Yesterday his blood pressure was 69/45 and today it is 60/40," she said.
"He is under constant medical supervision. During the day, medication is administered to him under an IV drip. There is a warden in the penitentiary service to quickly call for help if Zamin's condition suddenly deteriorates," Salaeva said.
*Zamin Salayev was detained on 7 February, and the next day the Garadagh court arrested him on charges of armed hooliganism (Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code). On 22 May the court sentenced him to four years of imprisonment.
The US Embassy in Baku urged the authorities to release Salayev and other political prisoners. -05В06-
