Baku's strange position about the grave of Haji Murat

Baku / 03.06.19 / Turan: Official Baku maintains a strange silence about the reports of the Russian media about the abduction of the remains of the hero of the Caucasian War, Naib Haji Murat.

According to the media of Dagestan, the grave of Haji Murat was dug up in the Gakh region of Azerbaijan and reburied in Dagestan.

Attempts to get a comment in the prosecuting authorities and the police of Azerbaijan have failed. The authorities pretend that nothing happened and they do not conduct any investigation.

What caused this "Olympic calm" is difficult to say. According to observers, there are two possibilities: Baku agreed to remove the remains, and the second is that it happened without the knowledge of Baku, which is a scandal. An act of vandalism perpetrated by foreigners occurred in the territory of Azerbaijan, and the authorities missed. Moreover, the remains were taken across the border of the country. How could all this happen?

There are more questions than answers, not to mention a serious blow to the prestige of Azerbaijan.

* Haji-Murat Avarsky (1818 - May 5, 1852) - the Avarian and military leader, Naib Imam Shamil and his "right hand". A native of Khunzakh (Dagestan), a milk brother of Avar khans, a hero of the Avar people.

For many years, the burial of Haji Murad's skull in his grave in Azerbaijan was discussed: to facilitate this, the skull was removed from the museum fund of the Russian Federation. However, due to the disagreement of relatives, the transfer of the head from the Kunstkamera at the beginning of 2018 was not carried out. In January 2019, plans were announced to return Haji Murad"s head to Dagestan and to bury her: a message was made by the leader of "Fair Russia", State Duma deputy Sergei Mironov.

At the end of May of the same year, the news appeared that on June 2, the remains of Haji Murad would be transferred from the Gakh region of Azerbaijan and reburied in his home village of Khunzakh. At the same time, the administration of the Khunzakh district officially declared that this information was not true. However, the burial of the alleged remains of Haji-Murat took place in Khunzakh on 2 June without notifying the authorities and any evidence on belonging the remains to Haji-Murat and were exhumed in Azerbaijan. -02 / 03B-
