Domestic political confrontation weakens Armenia's position
According to Ter-Petrosyan, the first president of Armenia, the current domestic political confrontation does not strengthen, but weakens Armenia's position in the upcoming difficult negotiations.
“There is no need to prove that the policy of non-compromise and maintaining the status quo led to a national catastrophe, and after the catastrophe even some of the former supporters of this policy admit this.
However, at the same time, in order to justify themselves, many try to prove that the same thing would happen if they chose the path of compromise. This is nothing but a pathetic attempt at self-justification, absolutely unsubstantiated, because history does not like the subjunctive mood.
History records what has already been done. Therefore, no matter how much the opponents of a compromise solution to the Karabakh conflict (statesmen, party leaders, representatives of the intelligentsia) try to justify their anti-national actions, sooner or later they will face the court of history, which no one has yet escaped. It is the realization of such a fate that still forces them to justify their catastrophic behavior in every possible way, which, unfortunately, exacerbates the current crisis in Armenia and Karabakh,” the first president of Armenia noted.
Levon Ter-Petrosyan stressed that it is not clear what the main goal of today's opposition is. “With the light hand of Serzh Sargsyan, Nikol Pashinyan received the label of a “surrender”, which may be accurate, but only half. In fact, it was not Pashinyan who capitulated, but Armenia. Pashinyan just signed a statement on the surrender of Armenia. Therefore, whoever was in Pashinyan's place - Robert Kocharyan, Serzh Sargsyan or, say, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, they would obediently make a decision that would be imposed on Armenia," Ter-Petrosyan said.
According to the ex-president, accordingly, the problem does not depend on the personality of the leader of Armenia. “If this simple truth is not understood, and the internal political upheavals of our country continue, then the decisions imposed on us will be much more painful, regardless of whether Pashinyan or someone else signs the final document,” he stressed.
“The question arises: do the current opposition leaders realize this? If they don't realize this, then they don't understand anything about politics. And if they are aware, but continue internal political upheavals, then they are pursuing completely different goals that have absolutely nothing to do with national interests. The harsh actions of the current government in relation to demonstrations, marches and rallies organized by the opposition have nothing to do with national interests.
Being hopelessly optimistic, I still expect that the conflicting parties will finally realize the danger of their positions, make efforts to reach some kind of agreement, so as not to further complicate the situation and avoid new dangers,” wrote Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
He noted that if the representatives of the intelligentsia really want to engage in patriotic activities, “let them force Nikol Pashinyan, Robert Kocharyan, Serzh Sargsyan to sit at the same table and find a way out of the domestic political crisis.”

The driver miraculously remained unharmed but vowed to seek justice, promising to file an official complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Azersu OJSC, the state-owned water supply and sewerage company, often associated with deeply rooted corruption.

In a bit of historic irony, powerful oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili has managed to inspire rare unity across Georgia’s cacophonous political scene twice in his life. His money and influence forged the broad-based consolidation of opposition forces that brought him to power in 2012, and now, 12 years and three electoral cycles later, a similar pattern of opposition convergence could send him packing.
