Halil Akıncı: "No one thinks of the genocide carried out in 1992-1994..."
You are watching the broadcasts of foreign media organizations about the situation in Karabakh. What heartbreaking scenes they show. Allegedly, thousands of “poor” Armenians are running away in fear of the "genocide"...
No one thinks of the genocide carried out in 1992-1994. After the First Karabakh War, I am one of the people who saw the scenes in Yerevan, Karabakh, and Baku with the OSCE Minsk Group and remember the worst side of things. In the camp in Imishli, I spoke with people who were forced to run in their underwear by Armenians with bayonets directed at them at midnight. I spoke to the witnesses because those killed in Khojaly could not speak.
Even if the owners were able to return to their homes, they were unlivable. I flew over houses, the roofs and walls of which had been torn down. I thought that the Swedish head of the delegation and the members didn’t have any "sublime" feeling other than establishing contact with Armenians behind my back and that they didn’t intend to take any serious steps regarding the refugees.
The actors of these heart-wrenching scenes were people who were brought from Armenia and settled in Karabakh. Now they are returning to their real home. You call that a tragedy, right?
Before the war, 36% of the population of Karabakh were Turks.
The savage malice and merciless acts that were shown against us in the first war no longer exist.
But despite this, look at the uproar. In the coming days, our liberals and human rights defenders will also participate in this uproar. Witnesses of events like me will be declared liars.
"The problem could not be solved without winning the war."
Taking advantage of the situation, Azerbaijan and Turkey should make Armenia dependent on them. The "cross-border cooperation project", a valuable project that was once strongly rejected by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs after it was suggested that some projects included Armenia, can now be seriously brought up, taking into account the serious cooperation with Armenia. In the current conditions, Nakhchivan-Kars-Igdir-Armenia are complementary regions. Once this commitment is established, projects can be further developed.
It is enough for Azerbaijan and Turkey to bring up such a proposal. The details can be discussed later.
The target should be Eduard Shevardnadze's words, "Turkey taught us how to live without Russia."
We also became friends with Russia, which once took the lead in these matters. Now there are the US and the EU, which are determined to block the resolution of this case.
However, by proposing a comprehensive "new system", the obstacles they want to create can be removed. We should not waste time on this.

In Ukraine, a brutal, bloody war caused by Russian aggression continues, claiming lives, destroying homes, demolishing infrastructure, and inflicting incalculable harm on the environment and surrounding natural ecosystems. Ukraine, more than anyone else in this world, strives for peace, as we bear the daily brutality of this Russian-Ukrainian war. We are at the forefront of the struggle for the right to life, freedom, and justice. Ukraine seeks a just peace that will lay a solid foundation for a stable future for Europe and the World, and the only way of achieving this is to implement President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula (the Ukrainian Peace Formula).

On the eve of a large-scale flood approaching Baku, a disturbing incident occurred in the village of Buzovna, where a Lada Priora car fell into the ground, literally collapsing the road beneath it. The driver miraculously remained unharmed but vowed to seek justice, promising to file an official complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Azersu OJSC, the state-owned water supply and sewerage company, often associated with deeply rooted corruption.

In a bit of historic irony, powerful oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili has managed to inspire rare unity across Georgia’s cacophonous political scene twice in his life. His money and influence forged the broad-based consolidation of opposition forces that brought him to power in 2012, and now, 12 years and three electoral cycles later, a similar pattern of opposition convergence could send him packing.

Russian authorities and pro-Kremlin influencers have been spreading false information about alleged Reporters Without Borders (RSF) research into Nazi tendencies within the Ukrainian military, which was featured in a viral video falsely attributed to the BBC. RSF exposes the inner workings of a disinformation campaign designed to justify President Vladimir Putin's war narrative.
