Hilal Mamedov Called on the International Community not to Remain Indifferent to the Plight of Political Prisoners in Azerbaijan

The chief editor of Tolyshi Sado Hilal Mammadov made a statement in connection with completing the trial over it.

He reiterated that the political nature of the case and fraud allegations.

At that focuses on the fact that although the closed part of the process was motivated by the need to protect "state secrets", in reality it was due to delusional content claims as a matter of law and logic and morality.

According to Mammadov, biased and prejudiced judges want to conduct a pair of formal public meetings to complete the process. Mammadov said the criminal case against him was a gamble and a blow to the image of the country and humanity.

The main "witness" in this case is Elman Guliyev, who calls Mamedov KGB-MNS agent since 1973. This man was also a principal witness against the former editor in chief of the newspaper Tolyshi Sado, the late Novruzali Mammadov.

According to H. Mamedov, "the shameful indictment falsified by the Attorney General" states that he allegedly engaged in smuggling drugs from Iran, through the media incited ethnic hatred, trying to split the country and disrupt stability.

In this Mamedov recalls that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office in a joint statement in July last year violated his presumption of innocence. On the other hand, he said, the message indicates the interest in arresting H. Mamedov heads of the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor General's Office.

Finally Mamedov encourages international democratic community and international organizations do not remain indifferent to the crimes of the authorities, not only against their citizens, but also against human values, as well as make every effort to protect all those who are fighting for democracy in Azerbaijan including those experiencing suffering and agony of political prisoners in jail. -05D06 -
