Dövlət Bahçəli
The content and essence of the statement was not completely clear when the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahçeli, a minor partner of the Turkish government, wrote in his Twitter account on October 4: "In these processes, the annexation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan is inevitable, a historical necessity, a very urgent need, so to speak, a matter of life and death"
In fact, it is not surprising for a person who has been following the politics of the country from the inside for 30 years that one of the most experienced figures in Turkish politics sent a message saying "Nakhchivan must urgently join Azerbaijan". Because Turkish politicians, officials, scientists, and NGO leaders know Azerbaijan by a maximum of 10%, and the recognition of most of them is for personal benefit. Therefore, I keep my composure in regard to the tweets, which demanded "the immediate annexation of Nakhchivan to Azerbaijan", of the MHP and its leader, who have identified the issue of "Turks abroad" as their main focus since its establishment, and I am trying to understand these tweets of Devlet Bahçeli, who has been the party chairman since 1997, had been the deputy prime minister for 3.5 years, and has been unconditionally supporting the government for 4 years, by translating them into normal political jargon, and I see that he either wants the Zangazur region between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Jabrayil to be separated from Armenia and united to Azerbaijan or wants the Nakhchivan-Baku train to be restored and to be put into operation as a minimum requirement.
First of all, Turkish NGOs understood this as "dispossessing Zangazur of Armenia" and voiced this demand. Knowing that Mr. Bahçeli had raised this demand in consultation with the government, the partisan media did not spare its support, regardless of whether they understood its meaning or not.
Let it be as he said or as Aziz Nesin's youngest son, my friend Ahmed Nesin said. Let us investigate the behind-the-scenes intentions of dear Devlet Bahçeli’s tweets demanding the "annexation of Nakhchivan to Azerbaijan". Indeed, why did the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party, an unofficial partner of the Turkish government, suddenly raise the issue of "the immediate annexation of Nakhchivan to Azerbaijan"?
1) Could the main reason for this be the strongest reminder to Armenia not to stand against the operations carried out by Azerbaijan to clear its lands of separatists, those carried out genocide, and terrorists?
2) Undoubtedly, the moral and psychological support for the just operation of Azerbaijan is also at the forefront in Mr. Bahçeli’s tweets, the meaning of which was later understood. Is there a hint - "never stop or interrupt operations, or we will all be in a bad situation" - in the line of the message to Baku?
3) Undoubtedly, Devlet Bahçeli also shared these tweets on behalf of the state. So can the other addresses of those tweets be Iran and Russia? That is, did he mean - “In fact, Zangazur was ours at that time, you took it and gave it to Armenia. Now we have the power to take it back. If you intervene in Karabakh, we will disturb Zangazur from Nakhchivan, which is under our protection with Kars, Gyumri, and Moscow agreements of 1920-1921, and we will especially prevent Iran from approaching there”?
Despite the anomaly in his style of expression, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli’s October 4 tweets should be seen as an important element of support for the Azerbaijani army. Because as Siyavush Novruzov astonished former officials in Baku and Bülent Arınç in Ankara at the end of last year, Devlet Bahçeli used the same tactic this time and astonished Armenia.
Never doubt that it will be effective...
