Foreigners who mined gold in Kalbajar and Zangilan will answer for their wrong-doing - I. Aliyev
Baku/17.08.21/Turan: Azerbaijan is preparing for lawsuits against foreign companies that illegally developed gold deposits in the occupied territories. This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to the Kelbajar district liberated from the occupation during the Second Karabakh War, on August 16.
"We have invited well-known international law firms that are preparing lawsuits. Foreigners illegally developed our deposits in Soyudlu (Kelbajar), Vezhnali (Zangilan) and some other regions. These companies were fully aware that this was the land of Azerbaijan; however, they ignored this and now they will answer for wrong-doing," Aliyev said.
He repeated that if these companies want to avoid the consequences, they must compensate for the damage to Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that one of these companies is the Swiss Frank Muller and the Russian GeoProMining.
Also, Aliyev stated that intensive strengthening of the state border was being carried out in the border zone with Armenia, the necessary infrastructure created and military units deployed.
By the beginning of winter, it is planned to complete 80% of the construction of internal roads leading to the border with Armenia. Total length of these roads is 700 km, he noted.
When it came to the accusations that Azerbaijan had penetrated onto the territory of Armenia, Aliyev disagreed with this as saying that "we are standing where we see it fit," Aliyev stressed. -02D-
