2.5 tons of drugs seized from illicit trafficking in six months
Baku/15.08.22/Turan: In January-June of this year, out of 18,223 crimes registered in the country, 5,768 (31.7%) are related to drug trafficking and psychotropic substances, the message of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan. Compared to the same period last year, the number of drug crimes increased by 39.2%.
In total, 4,036 people were detained in connection with drug crimes. Of these, 33.1% are previously convicted.
73.2% of those who committed crimes are unemployed and do not study; 2.7% are womenl 0.2% are children aged 14-17; 7.6% - young people aged 18-24 years, 17.5% - 25-29 years old; 74.7% are people over 30 years old.
915 people were brought to administrative responsibility, which is 35.4% more than last year. In total, 2540.7 kg of drugs were confiscated, which is 14.9% more than last year.
Seized from illicit trafficking: 1256.0 kg of heroin, 873.8 kg of marijuana, 268.2 kg of opium, 11.4 kg of raw hashish, 0.3 kg of cocaine and 131 kg of other drugs. -05D-
