A film from Ukraine in the program of the European Festival in Baku
Baku/15.11.22/Turan: The program of the 12th European Film Festival which is taking place in Baku on November 14-25 also includes a film from Ukraine - "MY THOUGHTS ARE SILENT".
"Ukraine is not yet a member of the EU, but it is a part of the European family. Ukraine fights the Russian aggression in the name of freedom and sovereignty," head of the EU mission in Azerbaijan Peter Mihalko said at the opening of the festival at "Landmark-Cinema Club" on November 14.
He noted that the festival is returning to the big screens after the pandemic.
"This is one of the long-standing and popular initiatives of the EU and EU member states in Azerbaijan. We would like to present the Azerbaijani audience with an opportunity to learn more about the latest films, European culture and values, engage in discussions and networking," Mikhalko said.
He noted that since 2010 the festival has screened 158 films.
Note that this year's festival began with a screening of the Czech comedy "The Owners," directed by Jiří Havelka.
The film tells the story of a meeting of flat owners in an apartment building to decide whether to sell the attic space in order to eliminate the building's emergency condition.
The festival programme also includes films from Germany, Estonia, France, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Sweden.
The films are shown in the "Landmark Cinema Club" (90 Nizami street) and "Cinema Plus" in the Deniz shopping mall. Entrance to all films is free. -16В06-

In Azerbaijan, the cost of books spans a broad spectrum, typically ranging from 5 to 25 AZN ($3 to $15). Yet, with the rising cost of living, many avid readers are finding it increasingly challenging to afford their favorite titles. As a result, second-hand books, e-books, and online international orders have become popular alternatives for those seeking affordable access to literature.

In a world increasingly marred by the effects of climate change, art has emerged as an unexpected, yet powerful, platform for raising awareness and sparking conversations on environmental responsibility. One such endeavor is the exhibition "A Different Kind of Climate," currently on display at Kapellhaus with support from the Goethe-Institut. The timing of this exhibition is no coincidence, aligning with the upcoming COP29, the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Baku from November 11 to 22. The exhibition seeks to engage audiences on pressing ecological issues, blending local and international perspectives.
