The first time in the history of Azerbaijani cinema a short film Sonuncu (The Last One) will be shown in one of the Cannes Film Festival programs.
The film Sonuncu was filmed together by the studio Azerbaijanfilm named after Jafar Jabbarly and Buta Films.
The film director is Sergei Pikalov, the script is by Sergey Pikalov and Alexander Krasavin and the leading actor is Idris Rustamov, the press service of the Ministry of Culture said.
The festival Directors’ Fortnight also included a short film Torn. The film directors are Elmar Imanov and Engin Kundag.
In addition, the program of the festival Short Film Corner represents several short films from Azerbaijan.
In total this year at the Cannes Film Festival Azerbaijan is represented by more than 20 filmmakers representing public and private film companies.
