Ankara Pleased with SOCAR Activities in Turkey
The Turkish government supports the activities of SOCAR in the country and is ready to support it in the future, reported SOCAR press service with reference to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Berat Albayrak.
Leaders of the company headed by Rovnag Abdullayev made a working visit to Turkey on August 23-24.
During the meeting between Abdullayev and Albayrak the sides expressed satisfaction with the progress of construction work at SOCAR projects in Turkey, in particular, the construction of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP), the refinery Star and the port Petlim and the development of the petrochemical complex Petkim.
‘Albayrak said these projects are of great importance for Turkey and Azerbaijan. He also stressed that SOCAR is one of the most important investors in Turkey, and the government supports the activities of the company in the country and will support it to continue,’ the report indicates.
During the visit, Abdullayev also attended a meeting of the Board of the consortium for the construction of TANAP in Ankara, where the results of the work were summed up in the framework of the project for the first half-year 2016, and discussed the challenges ahead. The meeting noted that the construction of the gas pipeline is conducted in accordance with the schedule.
In addition, Abdullayev visited Izmir on August 24 and familiarized himself with the work on the construction of the oil refinery Star, carried out inspection of the production sites of the complex Petkim and the port Petlim. The SOCAR head expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on these projects and gave instructions on specific issues. -12D--

A trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers, transport ministers, energy ministers, and heads of customs services of Russia, Iran, and Azerbaijan is set to take place soon to discuss the progress of the Rasht-Astara railway project, a key element of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
