Capacity for the production of steel pipes loaded on 13%
Despite the availability of production capacity, local production meets only about 5% of the demand for iron and steel pipes and their components. Moreover, the volume of this year decreased significantly.
According to the State Committee of Statistics, in the first half of this year produced 16 400 tons of steel pipes, which is 64% less than in the comparable period of 2013. In July 2 400 tons of pipes were rolled.
According to the State Customs Committee, manufacturers have implemented the entire volume of production outside the country. Taking into account the balance from the previous year were exported 17,120.1 tons of pipes.
Manufacturers (JSC Azerboru, LLC Khazarboru and LLC Azertekhnoline) reported production capacity of not less than 245 000 tonnes per year. JSC Azerboru until today produces pipes on the basis of pieces delivered from Russia. However, due to the installation of a new line of continuous casting of steel, LLC Baku Steel Company (the company nominally owned a 97% stake JSC Azerboru) until the end of this plan to start their own production of tubular billets.
LLC Baku Steel Company also owns LLC Khazarboru Garadagh district of Baku, where the power supply to allow the sale of up to 70 000 tons of pipes per year.
In 2013, in Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park, was commissioned the production line of 75 000 tons of seam steel pipes. Park residents are exempt from virtually all major taxes. However, the volume of production owned by LLC Azertekhnoline enterprises was not disclosed.
For the six months of this year in Azerbaijan was delivered from abroad more than 100 000 tons of steel and iron pipes are mainly oil and gas assortment. It should be emphasized that Azerbaijan exports pipe is much cheaper than imports. In the first half of this year, one ton of steel pipes exported from the country by an average of $ 980, the import was carried out at a price in excess of $ 2,400.
Note that in 2013 the total production of steel pipes in Azerbaijan decreased by 1.6% and amounted to 60 800 tons. Maximum production (more than 98 000 tons) over the past 10 years was noted in 2010. The draft law "On Amendments to the Tax Code," adopted in its third reading, provides for tax exemptions on the sale of locally manufactured buses in Azerbaijan and the supply of spare parts for these vehicles. This was reported by the Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, explaining that the government's initiative aims to support business development in the country by reducing the tax burden. The exemption will come into effect on January 1, 2025, and will remain valid for eight years.
