EU Provides Technical Assistance to Establishment of E-agriculture in Azerbaijan
Today Baku hosted a seminar on the beginning of realization of the European Union’s project to provide technical assistance to the creation of an electronic information system of agriculture.
"The application of information technologies will have a positive impact on the food security of the country," said EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Malena Mard.
Technical assistance of $ 1 million 140 thousand euros provides for the establishment of a fair and transparent distribution of agricultural subsidies among farmers. This will finally influence increasing agricultural production and improving the living standards of the villagers, said the Chief of Staff of the Agriculture Ministry Ilham Bayramov.
As part of the technical project it is planned to establish the registry of farmers and detailed database on all agricultural lands in Azerbaijan. With this system, small farmers will be able to create a network.
This project is being implemented by an international consortium consisting of 6 companies.
In April 2014, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree, according to which for three years an information system of e-agriculture is to be created in three years. As part of these measures, administrative and laboratory buildings have been built in Baku and regions, provided with the necessary information technology infrastructure and equipment. ----08D
