Failure to start cashless payment in public transport of Sumgait
Baku/23.11.21/Turan: Since 22 November the system of cashless payment in public transport has been suspended indefinitely in the town of Sumgait. The reason is problems in validators and card system, according to the Department of Passenger Transport and Transportation under the executive power of the town.
Sumqayıt Nəqliyyat" LLC (state-owned company for intracity and suburban passenger transportation) with the participation of "PASHA Bank" Visa International OJSC in a pilot mode since November 2020 https://bit.ly/3oMIL6A has been applying a fare payment system on buses in Sumqayıt. From September 28 the system of contactless payment in public transport began to be applied everywhere. However, from the first days it became obvious that the software of the system gives failures, so the cards are insufficient, although the fare payment is available on any bank card with the NFC option.
The Sumgayit UPTT points out that the work over adaptation of the payment system for travel cards Baku Kart is now underway. For this to happen, cashless fare collection terminals which are not equipped with a function of reflecting the balance on the card will be replaced by validators with this function.
The Public Transport Department of Sumgayit promises that plastic cards purchased by passengers will be replaced with new ones with the transfer of their balances to the same payment cards. -08B-
